Last week our syslog program stopped outputing - except for
syslog restart
syslog reinitializing
syslog: shutdown within 30 seconds
syslog: down
I have rebooted the system, restarted syslog, and still it doesn't
log anything other than shutdown and startup.
I haven't changed any of the files, and I used find to verify
that nothing has changed. (We do have several super users for this machine.
But I did check everything obvious (like loghost).
The only other clue is that nslookup only seems to work when you
specify the name of the machine's second ethernet port as the server.
Otherwise, it complains that it can't find the default server.
Ultrix 3.0
Very Strange.
Anyone have any ideas?
