We are attempting to connect an Apple LaserWriter to a DECstation 3100. We
constructed a printer cable but we were not positive on the pin arrangment for
the DEC station, if anybody could provide us with a copy of this we would
appreciate it. The DEC is going to be connected to the 9-pin socket of the
laser writer and will run at 9600 baud. The laserwriter pin assignments are
3 signal gound
4 transmit data +
5 transmit data -
8 receive data +
9 receive data -
The documentation that we have on the lprsetup is not very good so we are not
positive if the error comes from us running the setup program incorrectly
or if we constructed our hardware incorrectly. Will we need to find a printer
driver program for the laserwriter or can we just use the lprsetup program?
The laserwriter is running postscript as opposed to diablo. If anybody has
accomplished this or has had any suggestions please contact me at
