Hi Netlanders,
in the past, we were used to BACKUP from our VMS 5.1B system over
the ethernet to our ultrix system with DECNET. The save-set was stored
on the ultrix system and later on restored from the vms system without
any problem - at least, that's what I have been told by our staff. Since
a month or so, this doesn't work any more: The save-set header is displayed
correctly, but the following error messages indicates, that BACKUP is no more
able to recognize the correct BACKUP save-set records.
When we contacted our digital support, we were told, that this is
impossible to work, and they can't believe, that it ever worked before!
What do you think about this! Do you have any expierience, did you ever try?
Another thing we would like to do is a backup from our VMS System directly to
the TU81 tape attached to our ULTRIX System because in our VMS System we just
got one of these "wonderful" TK50 drives.... We never managed to do this before.
Another thing I would like to have is a program that processes VMS-backups on
a Unix-System. I remember to have seen such a beast a year ago on the net,
but at that time I didn't need it.
Thanx in advance
Uwe
