Need info on Mail standards

I know there was a great deal of mail going around about the ARPA
mail standard some time ago, unfortunately no-one here kept a
copy of that around.  Could someone please provide me with the
official mail standards document?

We are trying to have the nodes on the IBM/RSCS network that we
are connected to be able to send/recieve both mail and netnews.
This will require that they do some software work to conform to
the standards, knowing exactly what they are seems to be a good idea!
