Re "periodic confusion" article
CNTL-D may be great for UNIX full-timers, but is terrible for casual users,
secretaries, and others who only occasionally use UNIX.
Perhaps the best solution (what do you, the community, think of this)
is to define a function iseof() which returns TRUE iff the entered input
line is any of the entries defined in shell variable EOF (or some similar
name). Then different users can use different standards, and standards
can be changed on the fly to accomodate special conditions
(such as editor "." lines).
