Interterminal Communications

My major professor (a relatively naive UNIX user) just asked if there
was any way to get a transcript of a 'write' session (inter-terminal
communications).  Sounds like an excellent idea.   The idea wouldn't
work the way the command is done now.  Does anybody know of a CLEAN 
way to do this?
