what is libvt0?

Can someone tell me what the library libvt0.a is for?  It's some sort of
graphical device (since the source lives under libplot), but I can't find
anything more.  A few stray neurons keep saying it's for a vt05, and that
device was once known to stty, but I've never used the beast so I can't tell.
