I just moved to a new apartment and am having trouble with my Vadic
modem connecting to the new phone line. My terminal/phone/modem/cables
all worked fine at my old residence, and also at the shop where I took
them yesterday. But as soon as I plug the T-plug that holds my phone
and modem lines into the wall jack at my new place, the LED lights on
the modem revert to a state resembling that when the voice/data switch
is at voice, and the modem doesn't respond to the carrier from the
computer.
I can get the modem to respond to the computer's carrier if I unplug
the data cable from the back of my terminal, but as soon as I plug
it back into the EIA jack, the modem disconnects. Now, this would
indicate trouble with the modem, but this problem does NOT occur when
the modem's plugged into the phone jack at the shop or at my old
place.
Argh. So I'm trying to coordinate three phone companies and my
repair shop, and I'm begining to think the problem will never be
fixed.
Any help or advice will be considerably appreciated!
