Recently we ran into some peculiar behaviour of rsh; no matter how rsh
was used, it would always say "Login incorrect.". Looking at the sources, it
is actually rshd putting out this message. Well, after recompiling rshd with
a little more debug info, it worked as before. What's even more interesting
is that then I started up the old version of rshd, and then everything started
working again. Has anyone seen this behaviour before??? Just for info, the
"Login incorrect." message is when rshd cannot find the local user's name in
the password file(local user being the user you are trying to run on the remote
machine). Of course, this is a 4.2 system. I've also seen rshd put out a
"Permission denied." message, and of course restarting rshd cured this problem,
also.
