VAX memory (EMC(2)) question

Hi folks, anyone like to try this one?
We just stuck 2 megs of ram into our 780. It's made by EMC(2).
The microdiagnostics correctly report it's presence, and report
no errors.
However, 4.2 not only doesn't see it, but it reports LESS memory
than before, less real, avail, and fewer buffers.
Switching the boards off (with a toggle switch on the board) causes
the micro tests to not see them, but the 4.2 mistake is still there.
Any ideas? Is this a well publicized bug that I missed?
All you have to do is plug them in, right?
Thanks for any tips ...
