3B2 UNIX Release 2.2 Express Queue Overload Troubles

We have a 3B2 which was upgraded around 28 May to UNIX Release 2.2.
Within a few days after the upgrade it become apparent that we were losing
characters and having ports hang up on 2400 through 9600 baud direct links
to some other local machines which we have (our 3B2 is fully expanded with
four ports cards). Upon calling the Hotline, we were advised that this is
a known bug which was recently corrected, and we were sent a diskette with
the "Express Queue Overload Fix" on it which we promptly installed.
This solved most of the problem, but we still have anomalous hanging
of ports if there is good throughput at 9600 baud. Consequently, to achieve
total reliability we have had to drop our direct link speeds back to 2400.
I would also like to point out that no four-channel ports card is configured
for more than 24 kbaud in total port speeds - which is far less than the
maximum permitted.
I would like to hear from anyone with similar problems, and anyone
with (hopefully!) solutions.
