dump(8) verification

In an earlier letter on this topic, Daniel Cox said that his 
Zilog 8000 machine did rewinds during dumps and then resumed
forward tape motion...with the hopeful assumption that this
implied that verification was being done.

Alas, I fear this is not the case.  My Zilogs have the same
cartridge drives and they are multi-track beasties.  The
rewind is to get to the beginning of the next track...so
don't expect any verification code from Zilog.
