help! i have the following problem.....
we are running ultrix 1.1 on a vax 785. i have removed an eagle (2351a)
from a vax 750 4.2 bsd system and installed it on the 785. the controller
is an emulex sc7000 (nice piece of hardware!), and according to emulex
tech support, it is set up correctly. on the 4.2 system, i was able to
access approx 415 Mb of partition c. when running newfs or mkfs on the
ultrix system, with the controller set up to make the eagle look like
an `expanded rm80', the c partition get set up as 124.2 Mb. here is a
look at the /etc/newfs session...
# /etc/newfs -b 8192 -f 1024 /dev/rhp0c eagle
Warning: partition table overriding /etc/disktab
Warning: 274 sector(s) in last cylinder unallocated
/dev/rhp0c: 242606 sectors in 253 cylinders of 20 tracks, 48 sectors
124.2Mb in 16 cyl groups (16 c/g, 7.86Mb/g, 2048 i/g)
super-block backups (for fsck -b#) at:

it appears that the eagle looks like a lowly rm80 rather that the robust
eagle that i hoped would show up. i am unsure of the way the BSD system
was set up, as that was before my time. perhaps there is a patch to the
hp driver?
any and all comments/suggesstions will be greatly appreciated. please
respond directly to me at the address below via email, as we all know
how reliable the return addresses are! :-)
