tu81 problems

Please excuse me for posting this here - Ted Nelson (ted at braggvax.arpa)
reported some problems using the tu81, I tried mailing him my experiences
with that beast here but could not get thru. Ted, hope you have solved
the problem by now, if not i can only try.
