Bringing up 2.9bsd

We've just received the Berkeley distribution tape for 2.9bsd
unix. We're having a bit of trouble, though. The tape has 8 files
on it, of which only the last two are of interest to us. We can't read
the next to last one, which is a dump of the root file system. Although
we probably can do without it since all the sources are on the last file
(a tar archive of /usr), I'd feel more comfortable if I knew what was on it.
The problem is almost certainly with the tape itself, but if anyone
has experienced this problem before and knows how to resolve it, I'd
appreciate their help. I doubt it's restor itself, since the restor from
the tape distribution can't read the dump either.
If there is anyone who has a tape they know they can read, I'd
like to get a copy of the dump. It isn't too large to uucp or uusend over,
so that is a possible solution. I'll send a copy of our license to anyone
who is willing to help.
