GCOS field of /etc/passwd

Can anyone tell me the proper format for GCOS field of /etc/passwd
entries?  I don't have finger or any other standard user of
GCOS.  For what it's worth, I'm on a SysV.2.  This information
would probably be worth posting to the net.
