VAX 780 disk Problems

Can anyone out there help me with a problem we are having with
our VAX 780?  We are running BRL VAX Unix [4.2 BSD], have RUA81
disk sub-systems with RA81 drives, UDA 50 disk controllers.

Since Dec 3 I have had to restore our file systems on disk 0
four times.  The CE has reformatted the disk three times and has
told me that this can keep happening.  I get no other explanation
other than "This happens sometimes, and it might continue to happen".

After I restored this morning I have been getting the following
message onto the console, about every one minute or so:

uda0 soft error, disk transfer error, unit 1, srp 0x0, hdr 0x30541,
   event 0413
(the hdr changes with each message)

It seems to me that an error every minute is an indication of
something wrong!  But I'm not getting any answers that are helping
me to pinpoint what is happening.

Has anyone had a similar experience, or can any of you give me
some advice.
