htable and gettable

I just joined the unix-wizards bboard and received the thank you note from
mccalpin at masig1.ocean.fsu.edu about some information on htable and gettable.
I also would like to have these utilities as I have Silicon Graphics as well
as DEC machines that do not have them.  Would you please repost the information
given to mccalpin about htable and gettable.
