half a dozen 8800s in a room. (and that doesn't include disk and tape drives)
Actually, I think you mean the 8978, which is a cluster of 8
8700 processors claimed to push about 50 MIPS. Now this doesn't mean
your FORTRAN program will run at 50 MIPS, but then an vector processor
is only worthwhile for vectorised programs. Horses for Courses.
