ZAP utility

Has anyone got the "zap" utility (recently posted in comp.sources.unix)
to work, or is it just my weird machine (CCI Power 6/32 - a "tahoe")?

It tells me to use SWAB=0, so I do.  It then tells me to use SWAB=1, so
I do.  It then tells me to use SWAB=0 again........

Oh, and watch out for the "gotcha".  Typing "make clean" after installing
also cleans out your sources!
