Using SCCS for a tree

Does anyone have a trick that will allow SCCS to control a tree of
sources, where the same file name may appear more than once?
e.g. the tree
/usr/vision/Makefile
/usr/vision/{lots of other files}
/usr/vision/machine1/Makefile
/usr/vision/machine2/Makefile
SCCS tries to rip of leading pathnames and store every file in
a single level of SCCS control information with just the final
piece of the filename, so it complains when I try to "sccs enter"
a file name that already exists _elsewhere_ in the controlled
tree.
Thanks in advance!
