I imagine it's because the Sun is using Yellow Pages, and the YP map
serving /etc/servoces hasn't been updated. Try
cd /etc/yp (or maybe cd /usr/etc/yp)
make
and then
kill -1 pid(inetd)
again. If that doesn't do it, you have a real problem.
