modf

My man page for modf says that the fractional part returned is always positive.
Though it doesn't say explicitly, I assume that the sign sticks with the 
integer part.  Strangely enough, my modf on my 4.3 Integrated Solutions returns
the sign with both things (the integer and fractional parts).  What's the
deal?
