page numbering with nroff

This probably doesn't go here but...  I'm using nroff with the ms macros for
a document and I need to get the page numbers on the bottom of the page
instead of the top.  I managed to get them onto the bottom of each page
with a macro, but nroff is still putting them at the top of each page as
well.  (i.e.  page numbers are now on both the top and bottom of the page).
Can anyone help me here?  (I'm dealing with the military here, so living with
things the way they are isn't an option.  Damn.)  Please respond with email
as I doubt most people want to even think about *roff, let alone read about
it.

While I'm at it, can anyone mail me manuals to the man macro package, preferably
in *roff-able format.  Assuming of course we follow all copyright laws
and stuff.
