Please HELP!!!.
I am borrowing a P.P. 9600SA modem in order to a.) answer some questions
and b.) see if 9600 is really worth it.
But I cannot get it to operate reliably with SCO UNIX cu and uucp. I did
get a connection going once and I was really impressed. Anyway here is how
I have it configured.
with a line in my /usr/lib/uucp/Devices file that looks like
"direct tty1A - 9600 direct"
and using "cu -s9600 -ltty1A dir" to talk to the modem, and
AT&F&C1&D2
ATS2=128
when I am lucky enough to get this far without the modem echoing back
screenfull after screenfull of characters and/or disconnecting I then
try
ATDT nnnnnnn
this resulted in a connection ONCE, every other time it ends up disconnecting
after a semmingly random number of high pitched tones.
I have RTFM ad-nauseum (both SCO's and P.P's) and am at a standstill right
now, to make matters worse the P.P. support people seem unfamilar with
UNIX.
If someone out there in net-land has been through this with similar
hardware *PLEASE HELP*
Thanks, ian (uw-beaver!sumax!polari!ian)
