A '386 can only operate in two modes: protected mode, and real mode. In 
'386 protected mode, you can run multiple virtual 8086 sessions. This 
isn't a deficiency with VP/IX, its a limitation of the hardware.

The person complaining would be better served if he wrote to Intel and
complained to them about it.
