I have a real problem processing news on my system, I am currently 4 days
behind in unbatching what comes in. I have rebuilt the history file
(expire -r -i -e7 -E21 -n all) I have also verified that the disks are
running I am running as low an interleave as possible
(1 to 1 approx 260 kb/sec). I amusing the binaries of bnews that sco provides
for free on request, I believe they are compiled for SCO xenix 286.
The machine specifics are:
Data General (Zenith) 386dx-16 MHZ
4 megabytes of 32 bit memory followed by 2 megabytes of 16 bit memory.
2 maxtor 2190 160 megabyte disk drives
Everex EV 346 1:1 MFM disk controller.
Computone intelliport 8 port serial port board.
When we first started news on this machine we noted that is was always
unbatching but it would not fall behind. Is this what I should expect
from this setup? Would having 386 binaries improve the situation?
I s Cnews any better?
Please email responses..... I amy not see posted responses for days weeks...
ect or if you have a really hot suggestion call me 9-5 EDT Mon-Fri at
800-888-3922
Thanx in advance
Jack Lowry
