my alias like command won't work in a shell script

The following works well interactively at the Xenix prompt but I can't
find a way for it to work in a shell.  Does anybody know how?

(This sets up a something similiar to a csh alias)

c () { cd $*; pwd; lc }

Try the above - its a big help in daily work. I'd like to get working in
my .profile (or any shell script).   

SCO Xenix 2.3.2 (386).
