OS: Sperry Xenix V/286 (Really SCO Xenix), Version 2.0.4
I have two Okidata 193 printers hooked up; one to the parallel channel,
and the other (serially) to /dev/tty1a. I used /etc/lpinit to
configure both printers--the parallel one is "printer" and the serial
one is "printer2". For both I used the "dumb" model for the
.../lp/interface script.
The problem is this: When I print something relatively long (more than
3 or 4 pages) to either printer, the printout becomes garbled about
midway through the 3rd page. The problem is more pronounced on the
serially connected printer. *HOWEVER*, the problem only shows itself
when I use the system spooling software (ie; lp/lpr). 'Cat'ting a
long file directly to either device works fine. For instance, typing:
lp -dprinter2 foofile
produces the garbled output (if foofile is long enough), but:
cat foofile >/dev/tty1a
works fine. The "garbled output" looks like baud rates are getting
mixed up, but happens on the parallel channel as well, which doesn't
make sense to me.
Has anyone else seen this behavior? Is there a fix? Mail please.
I'll post a summary to the net if responses warrant.
