modem answering at wrong speed

!@#$%^&*() modem's.  Haven't you heard?  Even Hayes isn't Hayes compatible!
Many modems make this brain-dead mistake.  Once they shift to 1200, bye-bye.

I haven't tried this but I suspect a cron job to call out at 2400,
even if it fails, will fix the modem as often as you need to.

Oh yea, I have been told that some modems have a special command that
means "Don't be so stupid."
