usemouse(C)

Has anyone had trouble with the usemouse command?  I am using a Logitech
Serial mouse on /dev/tty1a.  After installing the mouse support and running
mkdev mouse, I /dev/event and /dev/mouse get initialized OK.  Now when I type
usemouse, I get:
        d_open:  can't attach /dev/tty1a to the event queue errno: 22
        ev_open:  error attaching device
        usemouse:  cannot open event queue(22)


Directory entries:
crw-rw-rw-   1 root     root      11,  0 Aug 30 22:27 /dev/event

For /dev/mouse:

crw-rw-rw-   1 root     root      10,  0 Aug 30 22:27 bus0
crw-rw-rw-   1 root     root      10,  1 Aug 30 22:27 vpix0

Any clues?  Just for curiosity, I tried the mouse under DOS and it worked 
fine.
