VPIX over serial lines (again)

Thanks for everyone who responded to my original problem:
I run vpix on a serial line and the terminal goes "beep beep"
and just hangs there. A kill -1 on vpix is the only way out.
I spent most of today taking my system all the way back to a
clean installation of everything. Along the way I tried various
things. The end result is that vpix works just fine over the
serial line until that point where I install "Update A", which
takes the system from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3 (UFJ Disk) and VPIX from
1.1.0 to 1.1.1. I install UFJ and things are still OK. I install
the two disks of Update A and the problem mysteriously reappears.
(Yes, I did follow the instructions... :-) )
Anyone else have a similar problem with this update? If not I am
going to assume that I have something funny in my hardware (?)
