Problems with XENIX and ACAD

I'm attempting to install the XENIX port of AutoCAD on a Unisys
PW2\System 800/20 with 9 Megs of RAM. The HD is 70 Meg CDC, the
controller is a WD 1003A-WA2 X5. The OS is XENIX/386AT 2.3.2.
There has been nothing but trouble getting the OS/file system to
stabilize, not to mention installing ACAD.
I have done a low level format with the Unisys supplied SETUP program.
All tests passed with flying colors. The disk is formatted with fdisk
from DOS with a 10 Meg DOS partition (which _does_ boot from the xenix
boot prompt :-), and a 20 Meg swap (per the ACAD docs).
The basic system loads fine, but when I attempt to use custom to load
the MOUSE, LINK, CSH, LPR, DOS. The system complains about multiple
unexpected characters in a script and proceeds to trash the root file
system (the only file system :-(. This has happened upon numerous
attempts.
Unisys sez that I need XENIX/386GT, for the SCSI drive, but the drive
isn't SCSI to my eyes. SCO sez the GT version will only help with
Adaptek (sp?) controllers.
Has anyone had any success getting XENIX and/or ACAD running on a machine like
mine?
Thanks for your help!
