Compiling NetHack 3.0 under SCO Xenix 286 2.3.2

Has anyone managed to produce a working executable of NetHack 3.0 on
286 Xenix (sco)?  What options (CFLAGS/LFLAGS, config.h. unixconf.h,
src Makefile) did you use?  
I get segmentation violations either while starting the game, or at 
some random time after I've started playing.  Never lasts longer than
about 10 secs.
