The following is excerpted from a press advisory issued yesterday:
The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. is back in business following
the earthquake that occurred Tuesday, October 17. All
departments have returned to normal operations, including
sales and support. Customers are advised, however, that due
to emergency conditions the telephone company has restricted
incoming calls to the Santa Cruz area to 30% of their
capacity and has reserved the other 70% for outgoing calls.
According to Zee Zaballos, SCO's public relations
spokesperson, ``We are happy to report that none of our
employees were injured by the quake. They have cleaned up
the rubble and debris at their homes as well as they could
and returned to SCO to support our customers. Since our
entire company runs on PC-based multiuser systems, we were
able to get all of our systems back online within one hour
after utility services were restored. We lost one PC and
two terminals, and these were easily replaced.''
We would like to thank all the people all over the world who have
expressed their concern via fax, telephone, and e-mail. This kind of
support is very helpful during a crisis such as this, especially
for those of us who may still be isolated from friends and family.
Again, thank you for your concern and support.
