Gidday all,
My first posting to the world and it would be a curly one, I do hope
that someone can help.
I am trying to setup a Lan around my Xenix 386 running Xenix 386 2.3.1 .
The lan is to replace the current configuration of 14 dumb terminals,
I am currently looking at TCP-IP running over thin wire ethernet using
either one of the following products in the host. Does anybody have
experiences with these ( or any others ) that they would care to share
with us:
EXCELAN:
EXOS 10615T consisting of:
EXOS 8011-05 TCP/IP software
EXOS 205T Intelligent Ethernet Controller
or
MICOM INTERLAN:
NP621-386 Version 2.0 consisting of:
TCP/IP software
NP600 Intelligent Ethernet Controller.
I have no previous experience at establishing such a network and am finding
that the local suppliers are unable to answer my questions. My major concerns
are:
1) Given either one of the above products can I establish >= 14
simultaneous TELNET sessions with the host. I would plan on
using something like NCSA TELNET at each Pc/Xt/At workstation.
2) Do I require additional software in the host above that supplied
by EXCELAN or INTERLAN to give me this capability.
Many thanks in advance :-)
