Xenix 2.3.2 woes

A couple of problems w/ Xenix 2.3.2 and TCP/IP 1.0.1:

1) first, when logging out of one of the "multiscreens"--a login
prompt does not return. that virtual screen just hangs and you lose
its service until you shutdo
wn the system

2) second, when ftping files to the xenix box a files owner is
set to root.  very serious security breach.  all permissions on
the ftp files have been checked and seem OK. 

Any ideas???
