BASH 1.05 on SCO Xenix (repost)

The makefile with BASH 1.05 (as scarfed from the GNU stuff on osu-cis) 
can't seem to figure out what OS its running under on my SCO Xenix
2.2.3.  As a result, a large number of compilation errors get
generated.  Can anyone help?  Thanks
