We are in the process of buying a large capacity, removable disk
(SMD type) and controller for our VAX 11/750. Currently I am in favor
of a CDC 9766 drive (RM05 equivalent -- 256 Mb) and either an Emulex
SC750/B or an AVIV DFC 607 controller. As far as I can see, the major
advantage of the AVIV is that it has a larger data buffer area (12
sectors vs 1) while the Emulex is cheaper. Does anyone in netland have
experience with either (and especially both) of these controllers?
Respond to me by mail and I'll summarize the results (unless I'm asked
not to).
Attention vendors: we are not cast in concrete yet. If you have a
product we should know about please contact me. (This I may regret.)
