Warning Message Redirection Question

Do any wizards out there know the magic incantations to either turn off or
redirect to /dev/null the timeout and file space warnings the system
generates. I am using cu with the ~$ command to send commands from my host to
a remote system. The warnings the system sends get sent to the remote system
also. This drives the remote system crazy (TIMEOUT not found). The real catch
is that I am capturing the output from the remote system and putting it in a
file. Then I compare the captured output against a control file and look for
differences. The warning messages cause bogus differences. So how do I send the
warnings someplace harmless?
