responding to requests for help

Why is it that when someone asks a question on the net and
requests replies by MAIL, half-a-dozen or more people POST
answers on the net with at least half the answers being
needlessly complicated or just plain wrong?

Please reply by mail.  I will post a summary if sufficiently
amused.
