Miniscribe 6085 is correct. Since mine is quite dead (and AT&T depot
repair is asking ~$2000 for a replacement (!)), I've been seeking
alternate routes.
The cheapest brand-new full-warranty Miniscribe 6085 I've been able to
find is $649 from Computer Products Corporation (see July '88 BYTE, page
100). This is a 1-year warranty. They are at (303)-442-4747 or, orders
only, 1-800-338-4273.
I'm trying to get mine fixed (supposedly it's just the electronics and
not the motor) at Drive Repair Labs here in Portland, but they seem to be
delayed due to back-ordered proprietary components from Miniscribe. Their
repair fee is only $250 w/90-day warranty.
