disk drive problems

I have a 3b1 with a 72Mb miniscribe disk (I don't have the number
offhand, but it's full height). The disk is sick.
On power up, the disk spins up slowly and when it gets up to speed
it makes a vicious squeal. It was making this noise intermittently for
awhile but now its pretty constant (and very loud). I assume that its burning
a bearing (or rather "has burned").
Can disk drives be repaired? Is there anything I can do (like lube
the bearing?) can I save the medium? The drive has served well for 2 years
in a very hostile environment (dust, cold, etc) so I don't feel too bad,
but I'm still pretty poor and I can't afford a new drive right now.
Any help appreciated.
