Screen Shrink on 3b1

Well, well.  As I sit here I notice that the characters on the right
edge of the screen are beginning to get skinny.  I suppose I should
be thankful that I'm beginning to move towards a really dense font,
but somehow I don't think it works that way.

Would some kind soul please tell me the most likely cause (flyback
capacitor going bad, cosmic rays, whatever), and just how serious
this is ('duck!', 'get service NOW', or 'needs to be fixed this
century', etc.)?
