direct file transfer

Some time ago a posting was made to this newsgroup of a program called zip.com.
This is a direct pc-pc RS232 connection which allows high-speed ( < 100Kb/s)
file transfer.
A similar proprietary program is "Brooklyn Bridge".

Is anyone aware of a similar program that would allow direct transfers between
a pc running UnixTM and a pc running MS-DOS?
