For comparison purposes (since the two machines are quite similar), the
X11R2 port to the Amiga requires about 5MB of HD space to contain all the
client and server programs and support.
More info about that port was posted to comp.sys.amiga. The port was done
by Dale Luck (of GfxBase, Inc., in Milpitas, CA).
Dale showed X operating on an Amiga A500, an A2000, and a Sun 3/50 at a
recent developers' meeting (for the Amiga) at Stanford University.
The fact it operates on an A500 (with Ethernet card and 2MB RAM) means a
port to the UNIXPC is feasible; the A500 has a 7.16MHz 68000, and is backed
by several RISC co-processors for DMA and graphics.
