UUCP Help

Hello Again,
	Once again I call out for help.  I am having troubles getting my
machine (3B1 ver3.51 OS) connected via UUCP to the archive server at
Ohio State.  It seems the problem is it take quite a long time for the
computer at OSU to answer the phone, and by the time is does my machine has 
already timed out.  I have tried connected to OSU using cu so I know I can
connect.  I have tried tacking several ":" on the end of the phone number
but this does not help.  I am using tty000 connected to a micom modem (hayes
compatible command set), and have also tried ph0, but ph0 didn't enev dial
the phone.  I am going to include my L.sys, and LOGFILE if it helps.
