Does anyone care about performance?

Judging by the underwhelming response to my previous question
about the performance improvement tools that people use, I'm 
beginning to question whether or not tuning occurs in the real
world of application development.

I'd like to take a simple poll.  The two questions are:

1.  What percentage of the code you write or are in some way
    responsible for do you attempt to tune?

2.  If you do tune code, what tool(s) do you use?
