Indeed, there would be a certain symmetry to the whole thing if one
could write

	reader(f, buf, len)
		FILE *f;

		return (read(fileno(f), buf, len));

		FILE *f = fopenrf(reader, "r");
		fileno(f) = fd;

instead of

		FILE *f = fdopen(fd, "r");
