I just observed a problem and thought that I would post it and
see if anyone has solved it.
I am attempting to backup my IBM-PC disk to the tapedrive on my
SGI. The software I am using is SUN's pc-nfs with the lifeline
backup option. It all works fine as long as I write to the
cartridge tape (tps0d7ns). However, it fails to write to our
8 mm tape, i.e. SGI supported exabyte drive (tps0d6ns). The
error message is "LL011F : Write failed". Also the SGI can
read and write to the exabyte with no problems.
The SGI is a Turbo-16 server (4D-80) running 3.1D of operating
system.
Presumeably, the problem is the long start and stop time of the
exabyte drive.
Any ideas on how to solve the problem?
